
Classic Apple pie grand mom style

Ingredients
- Pie crust
- Pie filling
Preparation
Pie crust
- 200 g self- raising flour
- 5 g sun flower oil
- 100 g butter
- 50 g sugar (Cassonade)
- 1 whole egg
- 1 spoon lime peel
- 1 spoon lemon peel
- 1 spoon orange peel
- almond powder (100%)
mix the flour, egg, sugar and oil in a kitchen mixer (Kenwood / Kitchen-aid)
add the butter at room temperature slowly
add the lime, lemon and orange peel and mix until it forms a homogeneous dough
roll the dough with a rolling pin
fill a cake shape with the dough
add some almond powder on the base of the dough (the almond powder will absorb the moisture of the apple cubes)
Pie filling
- 600 g frozen Crop’s Apple cubes
- 80 g butter
- 120 g sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 20 g corn starch (maizena)
mix the egg yolk with the starch
heat the butter and sugar to boiling point
add the butter slowly to the mix of egg yolk and starch
add the frozen apple cubes
mix thoroughly and fill the cake form
bake in a preheated oven for +/- 40 minutes at 180°C
Finishing
sweet Whipped cream with a hint of vanilla
